Sepiolite-based adsorbents for carbon dioxide capture

Abstract Sepiolite and the sepiolite-based materials were studied in terms of carbon dioxide adsorption. The pore structure surface characterization obtained specified based on adsorption-desorption isotherms nitrogen measured at –196 o C 0 C. specific area (SSA) was calculated according to BET equation. volume estimated using DFT method. Pristine sepiolite has shown following value SSA CO 2 uptake 0oC – 105 m /g 0.27 mmol/g, respectively. highest these parameters found for material by KOH activation mixture molasses (MSEP2) 676 1.49 mmol/g. Sample MSEP2 also indicated total micropores with a diameter up 0.8 nm.
